Bonn, Germany- Deutsche Post AG (DHL)., a German multinational package delivery and supply chain management company and Formula 1 announced that the new fleet of trucks running on biofuel reduced carbon emissions by an average of 83% compared to diesel-driven trucks. These trucks made their debut at the European leg of the 2023 FIA Formula One World Championship.

The new 18 trucks traveled more than 10,600 km on HVO100 drop-in fuel (hydrotreated vegetable oil) during the course of the nine European rounds, delivering an average of 300 tons of cargo per race. The FORMULA 1 PIRELLI GRAN PREMIO D'ITALIA 2023 in Monza last month marked the conclusion of the events in Europe, which were delivered in large part by these trucks.

Mr. Paul Fowler, Head of DHL Motorsports Logistics. said that, During the nine European races, the new 18 trucks covered more than 10,600 kilometers on HVO100 drop-in fuel (hydrotreated vegetable oil), transporting 300 tons of goods on average each race. The events in Europe, which were brought in great part by these trucks, came to an end at the FORMULA 1 PIRELLI GRAN PREMIO D'ITALIA 2023 in Monza last month.

The Formula 1 and DHL collaboration makes use the latest technologies and innovative methods of operation to provide events in a more sustainable manner. The use of biofuel will continue through 2024 and beyond, and the information from this summer will be essential as Formula 1 and DHL look into new opportunities and sustainable advancements as Formula 1 works toward becoming Net Zero by 2030.

Mr. Ellen Jones, Head of Environment, Social and Governance at Formula 1. said that, It is encouraging to see how our logistics processes can change to help us reach our Net Zero by 2030 objective. We will review and then continue to deliver in our 2024 season, making sure that these savings move from a single project to business-as-usual carbon reductions, based on reductions like the 83% with the usage of the biofuel-powered trucks. Our sport has a sizable transport and logistics footprint, therefore it is essential that we have partners who share our goals and are dedicated to working with us to reduce these and achieve our Net Zero goal, like DHL.

The biofuel-powered trucks are just as effective as their diesel-powered counterparts in terms of load capacity and trip distance, and the entire DHL fleet is outfitted with GPS to track fuel usage and plan more cost-effective routes.
