Leinfelden-Echterdingen- Daimler Buses GmbH., has delivered 40 new Mercedes-Benz Capacity L vehicles to the Casa Transports SA transport authority in Casablanca. In Casablanca, the public transportation authority oversees the entire metropolitan area, including surrounding cities. RATP Dev operates the new large-capacity buses on the first two Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) routes, inaugurated in March 2024. The CapaCity L buses run on separate lanes for efficient urban mobility. Auto Nejma, Daimler Buses' Moroccan distributor, is responsible for the contract and delivery of the 21-meter-long articulated vehicles.

In Casablanca, alongside the existing tram routes, four-door, large-capacity articulated buses are enhancing transport infrastructure with room for up to 177 passengers each. These buses aim to improve traffic flow and reduce CO2 emissions. The new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system comprises two routes totaling 24.5 kilometers with 42 stops. Route 1 spans west to east, while Route 2 connects southwest to northeast districts, forming an interconnected network with other public transport systems in the city.

Improving urban mobility for Casablanca's residents

The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) routes in Casablanca cater to approximately 300,000 residents and are designed to reduce carbon emissions. With buses running every 5.5 minutes during peak times, the BRT system seamlessly connects with the tram network, ensuring efficient traffic flow and fast transfers. An Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) optimizes schedules and monitors routes via video surveillance, enhancing overall service quality. Staff at stops assist passengers, and subsidized ticket prices of six Dirhams (0.55 Euros) aim to promote public transport usage.

Modern and comfortable: 40 CapaCity L in Casablanca’s BRT network

The CapaCity L large-capacity buses by Mercedes-Benz, featuring a uniform gold-gray design, accommodate up to 177 passengers each. With four wide-opening doors, 58 seats, and advanced air-conditioning, they ensure comfort. Manual folding ramps at doors 2 and 3, along with designated areas for baby carriages and wheelchairs, offer accessibility. These buses are powered by Euro VI diesel engines from the OM 470 series, paired with Voith Diwa automatic transmission, ensuring environmental friendliness.
