Pune - Exhaust and air intake management systems specialist for car and commercial vehicles, Lumax Cornaglia Auto Technologies Pvt Ltd1 of Pune (a 50-50 joint venture between Lumax Auto Technologies Ltd2 and the Cornaglia Group Spa3 of Turin, Italy), has opened a new R&D centre at Chakan, Pune.

The new R&D centre is to house experienced designers from Cornaglia, Italy as well as indigenous designers servicing the Indian domestic market to further develop products for meeting BS VI compliance in the Indian market from 2020. The new R&D centre is to target its efforts in designing appropriate air intake systems, urea tanks, other automotive tanks, charge air cooling (CAC) ducts and other moulded parts. The new centre, Lumax stated, is intended to enhance the local design, development and testing capabilities of the company and provide more localized solutions for the OEMs in India.

Anmol Jain, managing director, Lumax Auto Technologies Ltd, said: “Setting up the R&D centre is another step in the right direction. At the onset of BS VI norms, we anticipate a surge in demand for products such as air intake systems, urea tanks, fuel tanks and CAC ducts. The focus of the R&D team is to provide localised solutions for our customers, which will lead to fast and smooth transition towards technologically upgraded products.”

1Lumax Cornaglia Auto Technology (LCAT) Pvt Ltd incorporated on June 14, 2007. The production plant is located near the city of Pune, in Western India. It is specialized in manufacturing of exhaust and air intake systems for cars and commercial vehicles.
