Mahindra launches its first Dual-Fuel SCV

The Mahindra Supro CNG Duo has two CNG tanks with a total capacity of 75 litres. With its dual-fuel configuration, the Supro CNG Duo has a claimed range of 325 kilometres.

Mumbai - Mahindra and Mahindra Limited of Mumbai, a commercial vehicle manufacturer has launched its first Dual-Fuel “Supro CNG Duo” can run and start on both petrol and CNG. The Supro CNG Duo is available in two colours: Diamond White and Deep Warm Blue.

Mahindra Supro CNG Duo of 0.75t payload is powered with 909cc engine generates 26.8bhp and 60Nm of torque, which is transmitted to the front wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission. The engine's mileage is 23.35km/kg. The Mahindra Supro CNG Duo has two CNG tanks with a total capacity of 75 litres. In addition to the CNG tanks, the Supro CNG Duo has a 5-litre petrol storage tank. With its dual-fuel configuration, the Supro CNG Duo has a claimed range of 325 kilometres. The ground clearance of Supro CNG Duo is 158mm.

Mahindra's Supro CNG Duo is also capable of carrying high loads because it has a payload capacity of 750 kilogrammes. The Supro Duo CNG small business vehicle rides on 12-inch steel wheels with 145 R12, 8PR tyres. It has features like seamless fuel switching because it has a new ECU and intelligent CNG leak detection, which adds an extra layer of protection for those behind the wheel. In case of an emergency, the Supro CNG Duo is also fitted with a fire extinguisher. The warranty on the Mahindra Supro CNG Duo is three years/80,000 kilometres.

Launching the Supro CNG Duo in Delhi, Baneswar Banerjee, VP and national sales head at the automotive business at Mahindra & Mahindra says the CNG segment in the sub-2 tonne space has been the fastest growing segment.

"The CNG market (in the sub-2 tonne segment) has grown 4 times in the last four years. Last year, approximately 5000 units per month of CNG were sold in the sub-2 tonne space, and it is expected to grow at a fast pace going ahead due to lower fuel costs and the expansion of CNG network across the country. At Mahindra, we are trying to create disruptive products with the least cost of operation, we are sure that Supro CNG will deliver higher earnings and profits to our customers," added Banerjee.
