Indianapolis, United States- Allison Transmission Holdings Inc., an American manufacturer of commercial-duty automatic transmissions and hybrid propulsion systems, is excited to announce a major expansion of its advanced manufacturing facility in Chennai, India. This multi-year investment, totaling over $100 million, will double the current manufacturing capacity at the Chennai site. The 200,000-square-foot expansion is expected to be completed in 2025, become operational in 2026, and reach full manufacturing capacity by 2027 to meet the growing global demand for Allison’s fully automatic transmissions.

The expansion will increase production capacity for Allison's on-highway fully automatic transmission portfolio, enhancing global operational flexibility and capability. Allison continues to invest in its business in order to achieve its growth ambitions and deliver its brand promise to Improve the Way the World Works.
