Chennai –Ashok Leyland Ltd of Chennai, a manufacturer of commercial vehicles has begun delivery of the first batch of BS VI trucks to its customers, ahead of emission norms changeover on 1st April 2020 deadline. These trucks were delivered in Delhi-NCR region.

The company developed an innovative 'iGen6' technology for meeting the BS VI emission standards and this will ensure higher operating profits for customers.

They didn’t disclosed the price change compared with BSIV and clearly specified it would be higher than the BSIII to BSIV changeover price.

Anuj Kathuria, COO, Ashok Leyland Ltd. said, “We at Ashok Leyland have believed in indigenously developing innovative engine technology and after treatment solutions that suit Indian conditions. Our new BS VI iGen6 technology developed in-house, is suited for Indian operating conditions. In addition, we are also introducing our new range of modular trucks that will deliver superior customised solutions to customers. We are excited to bring such innovations which will not only help our customers with better profitability, but, also have a positive environmental impact.”

“When we migrated from BS-III to BS-IV, the prices increased by 5-8%. With BS-VI, we are implementing two norms in one go and so the prices would be much higher. Having said that, customers should look at the total cost of ownership rather than the cost of acquisition of vehicles. On that metric, ours would be the best in class,” Mr. Kathuria said.
