Daimler Buses and ChargePoint are integrating Daimler bus data into ChargePoint’s system, simplifying access and enhancing security for bus fleets.
Date: August 28, 2024Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany- Daimler Buses GmbH., and ChargePoint Inc., have partnered to integrate Mercedes-Benz and Setra vehicle data into ChargePoint’s fleet management system, enabling multi-brand fleets to use this data without extra hardware. This expands Daimler’s existing connectivity options, which already include integration with fifteen other European telematics and depot management providers.
Mr. Bernd Mack, Head of Customer Services & Parts and Used Vehicles at Daimler Buses, said, "I am very pleased that, in ChargePoint, we were able to gain another partner for our Data-as-a-Service ecosystem. The partnership with ChargePoint is a further important component in making the use of vehicle data as easy and secure as possible for our bus customers."
Mr. Uwe Münch, Director Bus & Transit Europe at ChargePoint, said, "Many of our bus fleet customers across Europe have buses from Daimler Buses in their fleet. This partnership is therefore a real benefit for the customers of both companies. With this new partnership, we are opening up additional options for users of our software to optimise their bus fleet. And not only for electric buses, but also for conventionally powered vehicles, which our software also manages for mixed fleets."
The new agreement between Daimler Buses and ChargePoint simplifies data access for fleets with Mercedes-Benz and Setra buses. There's no need for extra hardware; ChargePoint can use data from the standard Bus Data Center in each bus. Fleet managers only need a monthly data package from Omniplus On and data release from the transport company. The Bus Data Center provides real-time data on over 450 points and vehicle diagnostics and can receive mobile network commands, such as preconditioning the eCitaro.
ChargePoint customers using Daimler Buses benefit from top-tier data security. Daimler Buses is the first bus manufacturer to comply with the UN ECE R155 cybersecurity directive, ensuring that data is safeguarded against unauthorized access throughout its journey from the vehicle to Daimler's cloud.
