New Delhi- Ministry of Road transport and Highways to set up 3000 driving schools in rural areas to educate drivers and fleet owners on road safety. This initiative has taken by the government to reduce the accidents considering the safety point of view.

Road Transport and Highway Minister, Vijay Kumar Singh, also stated “This is needed as freight traffic through trucks is going to grow in future. Data show nearly 23000 people die in road accidents every year in the country. Among them, 15,000 are truck drivers. And nine out of ten drivers have not received formal driving training before getting a driving licence.

Since the freight through trucks is going to grow in future, we need to ensure safer roads for all.” VK Singh added.
