Lucknow- Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC)., a public sector passenger road transport corporation, has added 40 new air-conditioned electric buses to its fleet. These buses will run between major cities like Kanpur, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, and Prayagraj. With this addition, the region now has 100 electric buses, showing the state’s strong commitment to clean, green, and modern public transport.

This is an important step for Uttar Pradesh, which is growing quickly and needs better, cleaner ways to travel. These electric buses will start operating from September 2025 and will be managed by RG Mobility Company. The goal is to offer safer, more comfortable, and reliable travel options for daily passengers.

To support this move, new facilities are also being built. A bus terminal is under construction in Azad Nagar, and a special charging station is coming up in Vikas Nagar. The terminal will have six charging points, able to charge up to 12 buses at once. This helps make sure the buses can run smoothly without delays.

Using electric buses brings many environmental benefits. Since they don’t release smoke or harmful gases, they help improve air quality. This supports the larger goal of making cities cleaner and healthier. Also, electric buses reduce the need for petrol or diesel, which helps save money and reduces dependence on global fuel markets.

These buses are also good for people. They provide affordable, safe, and comfortable travel, especially helping women, students, and daily workers. Mahesh Kumar, the Regional Manager of UPSRTC, shared that this project is a joint effort with RG Mobility and aims to make transport more inclusive and sustainable.

UPSRTC’s decision to increase its electric bus fleet is not just about adding new vehicles — it’s about building a better future for cities. Cleaner, smarter, and fairer public transport helps everyone. This project sets an example for other regions to follow and shows how good planning and green technology can improve daily life.
