Santa Clara, United States- Advanced Micro Devices, Inc (AMD)., an Americal multinational semiconductor company, has announced it will showcase automotive innovation at CES 2024 and expand its portfolio with the introduction of two new devices, the Versal AI Edge XA adaptive SoC and Ryzen Embedded V2000A Series processor. The gadgets highlight AMD's strength in automotive technology and are made to cater to important automotive priority areas including infotainment, advanced driver safety, and autonomous driving. AMD will showcase at CES 2024 the wide range of capabilities and uses for these new technologies in automotive solutions that are currently and will be accessible in the future, working with an expanding ecosystem of automotive partners.

With the addition of an advanced AI Engine, Versal AI Edge XA adaptable SoCs allow for further optimization of the devices for a wide range of next-generation advanced automotive systems and applications, such as surround-view, automated parking, LiDAR, 4D radar, forward cameras, and in-cabin monitoring. Versal AI Edge XA adaptable SoCs, which offer enhanced security and protected IP for automotive applications where safety is crucial, are also the first AMD 7nm chip to receive auto-qualification.

The infotainment console, digital cluster, and passenger displays of the next-generation car digital cockpit are all powered by Ryzen Embedded V2000A Series processors. The first x86 auto-qualified processor family to deliver the same PC-like experience that consumers have grown accustomed to from home entertainment is the AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000A Series extension.

Elevating AI Engines with Versal AI Edge XA

Versal AI Edge XA adaptive SoCs, featuring AI Engines, excel in AI compute, vision, and signal processing. Ideal for edge sensors or centralized controllers, they handle diverse AI models, ranging from 20k to 521k LUTs and 5 to 171 TOPs. Ensuring scalability, safety, and security, these SoCs cater to high-performance AI applications in automotive design, with the initial release slated for early 2024 and subsequent releases later in the year.

Mr. James Hodgson, research director at ABI Research, said that, Automakers will shape brand identities through autonomous vehicle applications, driven by a 41% CAGR in highly automated vehicle shipments from 2024 to 2030. Enhancing Consumers’ In-vehicle Experiences with AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000A.

AMD's new Ryzen Embedded V2000A Series processor, built on 7nm process tech, 'Zen 2' cores, and Radeon Vega 7 graphics, enhances in-vehicle experiences. Tailored for automotive use, it offers impressive performance, multitasking, high-definition graphics, and advanced security features. Designed to meet consumer expectations for entertainment, connectivity, workplace on wheels, and safety, this processor supports Automotive Grade Linux and Android Automotive.

Mr. Peter Cirino, Chief Operating Officer, ECARX, said that, AMD Ryzen Embedded processors, particularly the V2000A Series, have played a crucial role in powering ECARX's Makalu digital cockpit.
