Fuso truck deliver eCanter to Yamato Transport

Kawasaki, Japan-Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation(MFTBC)., announced that deliveries of the new eCanter have begun with the sale of around 900 units to Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. This is the first introduction of the new eCanter.

Background and Objectives

As the first production of electric light-duty truck in Japan, the eCanter was introduced by MFTBC in 2017. It is an emission-free vehicle with low noise and vibration levels, which eases the load on the driver. Customers in Japan and abroad have been raving about the eCanter since the debut of the first-generation model in 2017. The motor-driven eCanter is acceptable for delivery in residential areas even early in the morning or late at night because it produces no emissions while operating and makes no vibration or noise.

Yamato released 25 units of the first-generation eCanter in 2017, and based on feedback from customers using it for home delivery and other logistical services, the company has now chosen to roll out the updated eCanter in about 900 units across the country. This is the eCanter's largest single order to date. In an effort to achieve a 48% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 (compared to FY2020), followed by almost zero emissions by 2050, the Yamato Group is introducing the eCanter.

This time, Yamato Transport received three compartments for dry, chilled, and frozen goods in an S-battery van with a standard cab. The new eCanter model, the narrowest conventional cab vehicle in the series, is more agile and appropriate for deliveries within the city. The charging port is also positioned at the back of the vehicle for convenient daily charging and freight loading and unloading. This is the first 2-ton class EV truck to be introduced by the firm, with a maximum payload capacity of 2 tons.

The understanding and cooperation of the vehicle manufacturer is essential.
