Kawasaki, Japan- Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC)., has received the first customer order in the Taiwanese market for the new all-electric eCanter truck, through Daimler Truck Asia Taiwan Ltd. (DTAT), local joint venture and official distributor of FUSO vehicles. President Transnet Corporation is the first company in Taiwan to commit to the eCanter in advance of its official 2024 launch.

Currently, one of Taiwan's top logistics firms is President Transnet. It was established in 2000 and runs a sizable fleet, comprising over 1,690 FUSO vehicles, for its transportation operation. President Transnet will do trial operations with a 5-tonne eCanter in Taipei to acquaint drivers and logistics management with the truck's technologies since the eCanter will be the first electric truck launched into its business. A crucial resource for DTAT as it gets ready for the formal market debut of the eCanter truck, which is expected to happen in the first quarter of 2024, will be the data and insights gained during this time.

One of the biggest export destinations for FUSO vehicles is Taiwan. There are a wide variety of vehicles in the local lineup, from light-duty to heavy-duty. In terms of market presence, Taiwan has historically been a stronghold for FUSO, notably in the 5-tonne category. The bulk of units sold in the local commercial vehicle market are light-duty trucks, and advancements in electric mobility in this space are anticipated to meet rising demand.

The eCanter, which was originally introduced to the Japanese market in 2017 as a series-produced electric truck, has been driven more than 8 million kilometers by customers. Additionally, the vehicle's sales have been successfully expanded to a number of international countries, including Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. In September 2022, a completely redesigned model of the car was presented. It featured a new drivetrain configuration and a modular battery system. In the near future, Mitsubishi Fuso intends to start selling this new eCanter in more foreign countries outside of Taiwan, including Chile, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
