India - Tractor market reached a historic milestone in FY2025-26, with retail sales crossing 10 lakh units for the first time. According to FADA, total tractor retail sales stood at 10,50,077 units, marking an 18.94% increase over 8,82,825 units in FY2024-25.
This strong performance made tractors the fastest-growing vehicle category under FADA during the year, ahead of even larger segments such as two-wheelers and passenger vehicles. The momentum remained steady through the year, with March 2026 retail sales at 82,080 units, up 10.87% year on year. Industry observers attributed the growth to a good southwest monsoon, strong Rabi sowing, and an improving farm economy that supported rural incomes and investment.
Mahindra & Mahindra continued to lead the market in FY2026. Its tractor division sold 249,973 units, up 20.14% from 208,056 units in FY2025, raising its market share to 23.81% from 23.57%. CNH Industrial India also posted robust growth, with sales climbing 31.81% to 47,122 units from 35,746 units in FY2025. Its market share rose to 4.49% from 4.05%, making it one of the strongest gainers in the market. In contrast, the ‘Others’ category saw sales decline 6.24% to 43,882 units, with market share falling sharply to 4.18% from 5.30%.
The FY2026 performance highlights the strength of India’s rural economy and confirms the tractor industry’s growing role in the country’s agricultural and automotive landscape.
