Dr. Astrid Fontaine is coming to Schaeffler from the Volkswagen Group, where she was most recently responsible for “People & Transformation” on the Board of Management at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

Herzogenaurach, Germany- Schaeffler AG., an automotive supplier of systems and component, has appointed Dr. Astrid Fontaine as Chief Human Resources Officer and as a full member of the Board of Managing Directors of Schaeffler AG, effective January 1, 2024. Dr. Fontaine has extensive and long-term international experience in the HR departments of well-known major automobile manufacturers.

Dr. Astrid Fontaine is joining Schaeffler from Volkswagen Group, where she held key roles in HR, including "People & Transformation" at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. She also served as Head of "People, Digitalization, and IT" at Bentley Motors. With extensive experience in HR positions at Porsche, DaimlerChrysler, and Mercedes-Benz, she brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role.

Dr. Astrid Fontaine, with dual German and US citizenship, holds several Supervisory Board positions in the Volkswagen Group. She is a business administration and mechanical engineering graduate with a doctorate in "Information Systems." Additionally, she has been part of the Expert Group on the Transformation of the Automotive Industry at the German Federal Ministry of Economics since 2022.
