New XRANGETM Battery Pack for Buses and Trucks

Munich, Germany- Freudenberg Fuel Cell e-Power Systems GmbH (FEPS)., introduces its new battery pack XRANGETM for the electrification of trucks and buses at this year’s Busworld Europe in Brussels and APTA tradeshow in Orlando, Florida. With this new battery system, FEPS strengthens its positioning as one of the suppliers of emission-neutral energy solutions for heavy-duty applications. The company will produce the new pack in their gigafactory production line in the U.S

The launch of the XRANGETM battery pack is a major step in FEPS' mission to help end users reduce emissions and become less reliant on fossil fuels. This battery is designed for heavy-duty vehicles like buses, trucks, and construction equipment, and it's built to be durable and perform well in tough conditions. It's easy to integrate into various vehicles and comes in a fully enclosed package, making it simpler to connect to vehicles.

Ms. Lisa McKenzie, President & General Manager for the Battery Power Systems Unit at FEPS, said that, Our XRANGETM battery pack's characteristics make it especially appropriate for usage in commercial vehicles. For instance, the battery in a commercial vehicle must endure an energy throughput that is up to 11 times higher than in a passenger Vehicle. We provide fully engineered energy storage solutions, complete with intelligent battery management systems, cooling, telematics, and all other necessary components, to our customers in the truck and bus industry.

The new battery pack will be showcased at Busworld Europe and APTA tradeshows in October. FEPS will manufacture it in a high-tech factory with a scalable capacity of up to 6GWh. XRANGE is specifically designed for heavy-duty applications, combining battery packs, telematics, and software for customer needs. Freudenberg's battery systems are highly regarded, with over 60 million miles driven, making them a top market choice.

In early 2023, FEPS secured a long-term supply agreement with LG Energy Systems for lithium-ion battery cells. XRANGETM integrates these cells with FEPS' advanced battery management, thermal control, and safety features, creating a cutting-edge heavy-duty battery solution.

Dr. Max Kley, CEO of Freudenberg e-Power Systems, said that, Freudenberg has built a career on the creation and implementation of alternative energy systems for more than ten years. With the help of our battery solutions, our customers can now operate emission-free, and they have proven their dependability during years of arduous daily use. With XRANGE, we showcase not only the best battery management software available and performance that leads the market, but also our simulation knowledge, electrochemistry know-how, broad test capacities, and stability in an innovative setting.

The strategic value and growth possibilities Freudenberg sees in its e-mobility solutions are shown by the new XRANGETM product. Freudenberg e-Power Systems is recognized as a pioneer of electromobility in the heavy-duty sector due to its expertise and innovative strength in both battery and fuel cell technologies.
