JK Lakshmi Cement deploys LNG trucks for transportation

Sirohi- JK Lakshmi Cement., has tied up with Pune-based Blue Energy Motors to supply LNG trucks for long haul transportation of raw materials in the country.

In a flag-off ceremony, held at the company’s Sirohi plant in Rajasthan, a fleet of 10 LNG trucks left for the company’s grinding unit at Surat. With this, JK Lakshmi Cement became the first Indian cement company to use Green LNG trucks for transporting its products. The company is expected to increase the fleet size of these LNG trucks substantially in the coming year. The flag-off ceremony was attended by senior officials and other important stakeholders of the company.

Arun Shukla, President & Director, JK Lakshmi Cement Limited, said, “Our country is aiming to reduce the carbon intensity of the nation's economy by less than 45% by the end of the decade, and achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. JK Lakshmi Cement fully supports this vision and believes in sustainable & responsible growth that encompasses our society and the environment. We have taken multiple steps to reduce both direct and indirect carbon emissions. Deploying LNG trucks is our first step towards sustainable transportation as LNG is an excellent green alternative for fossil fuel that saves 35000 Kg CO2 emissions per year per truck. This initiative will act as a game-changer for the country’s cement transportation industry and help facilitate the eventual transition towards a more circular economy.”
