Chennai– Switch Mobility Automotive Ltd, Chennai, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ashok Leyland Ltd has launched its electric bus platform Switch EiV 12 for the Indian market. The new bus will be available in two variants - EiV 12 low floor and EiV 12 standard. The EV architecture of the EiV platform is common with the recently launched European Switch e1 bus.

The Switch EiV range of buses have been configured to meet customer requirements of varied applications like intra-city, inter-city, staff, school, and tarmac, offering maximum passenger capacity and comfort.

Also, company claims they have an order book of over 600 buses.

Switch EiV 12 bus is powered with Permanent Magnet Synchronous AC Motor; 235 KW Peak, 140 KW Continuous; 3100 Nm Peak which relates to modular batteries of lithium-ion NMC chemistry. The modular batteries increase the capacity power battery cell for the same weight, enabling a higher range of kilometers – up to 300 kms/day with single charge, and up to 500 kms/day with dual gun fast charging. This also supports 240kW of DC fast charging, which can top up the battery in 1 to 3.5 hours. EiV 12 also comes along with proprietary, connected technology solutions, Switch iON, enabling remote, real-time diagnostics and monitoring services, as well as digital battery management tools. Low floor variant comes with 400mm floor height and Standard variant comes with 900mm floor height. Low floor variant has disk brakes at front and rear, standard variant has disc at front and drum brake at rear.
