Knorr-Bremse presents innovative solutions for Bus Fleets at Busworld 2023

Global Scalable Brake Control (GSBC) system launch | Major role in enabling safe, efficient and sustainable urban and intercity transit services

Knorr-Bremse presents innovative solutions for Bus Fleets at Busworld 2023

München, Germany- Knorr-Bremse AG., a manufacturer of braking systems and supplier of safety-critical sub-systems for rail and commercial, will presenting a safe, efficient and reliable solutions for bus fleets, in Busworld 2023

Mr. Bernd Spies, Member of the Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse AG and responsible for the Commercial Vehicle Systems division, said that, Knorr‑Bremse has been developing smart system solutions for a very long time they play a major role in enabling safe, efficient and sustainable urban and intercity transit services. At this year’s Busworld, we’ll be presenting our trailblazing portfolio of products for reliable, high-performance bus fleets. With our innovative solutions, we’re helping to define tomorrow’s mobility landscape and focusing ever more intensively on our ‘Zero Emission’ vision.

New GSBC brake control system following successful market launch

Knorr-Bremse's GSBC modular brake control system, successfully launched in Europe, streamlines components, simplifying layouts, cutting costs, and interfacing with driver assistance tech. It offers ABS, ESP, and can upgrade for highly automated driving. Notably, it automatically activates brakes when bus doors open for added safety. E-buses benefit from integrated drive motors, extending range and reducing brake wear. Plus, the eVMC software optimizes energy recovery in electric commercial vehicles. In a nutshell, GSBC offers a future-ready, efficient brake control solution.

Modular SYNACT disc brake family: for buses now and in the future

Knorr-Bremse presents SYNACT modular disc brakes in Brussels, drawing on 30+ years of bus market experience. SYNACT offers optimized solutions for all bus types, whether with IC engines or electric drivetrains. It reduces bus weight by up to 48 kg and can cut fuel consumption by 1% with Active Caliper Release (ACR). SYNACT stands out as one of the most energy-efficient compressed-air disc brake systems available. It's also designed for future electric vehicles, prioritizing noise reduction in urban areas with its NVH Toolbox.

Innovative systems enhance safety, efficiency and ergonomics

At Busworld, Knorr-Bremse presents innovative systems:

iTPMS: A tire pressure monitoring system compliant with UN ECE R141 standards.

ProFleet Assist Gen 2: A retrofittable turning assistant system, enhancing right-turn safety and detecting vulnerable road users.

ELC (Electronic Leveling Control): Provides essential functions for pneumatic suspension on coaches and buses, including leveling compensation and load distribution. Kneeling function aids passenger boarding and alighting.

Cutting-edge steering portfolio for buses

Knorr-Bremse's steering systems prioritize road safety and driver comfort with various features, including adjustable steering preferences, speed-dependent power steering, active lane-keeping assistance, and steering-wheel recentering. The introduction of electrohydraulic AHPS (Advanced Hybrid Power Steering) enhances manual steering with torque overlay, offering a wide range of driver assistance functions that improve comfort and vehicle safety.

Their product portfolio covers steering systems for all bus applications, including those with all-electric drivetrains. All Knorr-Bremse steering systems meet rigorous safety and cybersecurity standards, boasting field-tested core components.

E-compressors: high energy efficiency, low noise emissions

Knorr-Bremse's compressors excel in handling vibrations, high temperatures, and humidity variations. At Busworld, they feature the Electric Screw Module a reliable, efficient solution combining a screw-type compressor with an electric motor. Ideal for vehicles with substantial compressed-air needs, like city buses, it prioritizes noise and vibration reduction.

They're also introducing the iAPU (intelligent Air Processing Unit), which not only optimizes vehicle functions for fuel savings but also controls the electric motor in the screw-type compressor.
