Liebherr has delivered its first LTM 1110-5.2 mobile crane with next-gen driver assistance systems to the Ulferts Group.
Date: June 2, 2025Bulle, Switzerland - LIEBHERR-INTERNATIONAL AG., a construction machinery manufacturer, has delivered its first mobile crane equipped with a new generation of driver assistance systems. The milestone machine, an LTM 1110-5.2, was personally collected from Liebherr’s Ehingen plant by Temmo Niekamp, co-managing director of the Ulferts Group, alongside Hermann Ulferts.
The LTM 1110-5.2 stands out for its cutting-edge technology, operational efficiency, and comfort, both on the road and on job sites. Key features include variable axle loads and a 60-meter telescopic boom. At its core is the intuitive LICCON3 control system, offering user-friendly operation and streamlined design.
Mr. Temmo Niekamp, Co-managing director of the Ulferts Group, said, “The new systems support and relieve crane operators significantly and make their everyday work easier. They allow the operators to monitor areas that were previously difficult or even impossible to see.”
The LTM 1110-5.2 is equipped with several key safety features designed to enhance operator awareness and protect those around the crane. The Moving-Off Information System (MOIS) alerts the operator if a person is detected in front of the crane—particularly useful for spotting small children or when the hook block obstructs the view. This system uses two front-mounted cameras to provide both visual and audible warnings on the digital cockpit display.
The Blind Spot Information System (BSIS) monitors the side areas of the crane, which are difficult to see even with large mirrors. A wing-mounted camera offers real-time surveillance and alerts the operator to potential hazards in these zones. Additionally, the Reversing Information System (REIS) automatically activates when the crane is put into reverse gear, scanning the rear blind spot and warning the operator if any obstacles or people are detected behind the vehicle.
These assistance systems offer crane operators a clearer, safer view of their surroundings, easing the challenges of maneuvering such large equipment. The improved visibility and real-time alerts help protect vulnerable road users, such as cyclists and pedestrians, while enhancing overall safety during transport and operation.
