GMSL2-10GbE conversion module to enhance the Edge.Auto platform, supporting up to 8 GMSL2 cameras and the new 8.3MP C3 Camera.
Date: October 26, 2024Nagoya, Japan-TIER IV, Inc., an autonomous driving software, has announces the launch of the GMSL2-10GbE conversion module, developed in collaboration with Analog Devices Inc., (ADI). This innovative module enhances TIER IV's Edge.Auto platform, designed for fast-tracking the development of autonomous driving systems by integrating sensors, computers, and software tools, thus accelerating the evolution toward autonomy.
ADI’s GMSL2 is a robust serializer-deserializer solution ideal for automotive and industrial automation, supporting reliable sensor fusion in autonomous driving and robotics. This module seamlessly connects GMSL2 cameras, sensors, and computers, broadening device compatibility without the need for additional drivers. The GMSL2-10GbE conversion module integrates with TIER IV’s high dynamic range C1 and C2 cameras, enabling efficient autonomous system development across various fields. Key features include data acquisition from up to 8 GMSL2 cameras and sensors, low-latency 10GbE uncompressed image transmission using an FPGA, PTP synchronization with LiDAR and other devices, shutter timing control, image timestamping, and user-friendly, browser-based management.
Mr. Akihito Inagawa, head of Edge.Auto at TIER IV, said, "We are thrilled to partner with ADI, a highly acclaimed leader with extensive experience in the automotive and industrial automation industries. By combining ADI's advanced GMSL technology and TIER IV's innovative camera solutions, we aim to enhance the system value across a broad range of autonomous applications."
Ms. Fiona Treacy, Managing Director at ADI, said, "It has been an exciting and innovative journey working with TIER IV to deliver a robust, autonomous, robot solution for industrial manufacturing. This co-created 'GMSL2 to 10GbE' conversion subsystem module allows for quick and easy development of advanced robotic perception platforms, broadening the horizons of GMSL solutions within the realm of the autonomous robotic space."
The module will also support TIER IV's upcoming 8.3MP C3 Camera, which represents a step up from the 2.5MP C1 Camera and 5.4MP C2 Camera in the Edge.Auto lineup. The new camera model expands the resolution and lens options on offer, satisfying a wider range of customer needs.
