Chennai: Ashok Leyland Ltd of Chennai, secured order worth USD10.58m to supply 2100 buses includes 2,000 passenger chassis and 100 of fully built small buses to various state transport undertakings (STUs) from Institute of Road Transport (IRT), Tamil Nadu.

4Viking 222 is a 12m and 16t gvw bus powered with Ashok Leyland’s H Series 6-cylinder CRS BSIV compliant 180hp engine controlled using a 6-speed S6:36 synchromesh overdrive gearbox. It has a ladder-type chassis of 12m in length, 6,200mm wheel-base suspended with rubber-end leaf spring design in the front and air suspension in the rear.

6Viking 210 is a 14.6t gvw vehicle powered by Ashok Leyland’s H series 6ETI3K 6-cylinder BSIV compliant 160hp engine matched with a 6-speed synchromesh manual gearbox with overdrive. It has a ladder type chassis of 10.4m length, 5,334mm wheel-base suspended with rubber end leaf suspension in front and rear
