Partnership announced to deliver software-defined, best-in-class imaging radars for next-generation driver assist and automated driving features, at IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich.
Date: September 11, 2023Jerusalem, Israel - Mobileye Global Inc., an autonomous driving technologies and advanced driver-assistance systems including cameras, computer chips and software, and Valeo Inc., is a automotive supplier, announced a new partnership to deliver software-defined, best-in-class imaging radars for next-generation driver assist and automated driving features, at IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich.
Mobileye and Valeo can give OEMs everywhere in the world access right away to a cutting-edge new technology that enables more intelligent cars. Imaging radar is going to be a key part of automated driving sensing systems, allowing for more advanced hands-free ADAS solutions and eyes-off automated driving capabilities on freeways and city streets.
Mr. Nimrod Nehushtan, Mobileye’s Executive Vice President of Business Development and Strategy, said that, Mobileye and Valeo’s Imaging radar collaboration significantly advances a new and exciting phase in automotive safety and performance, In this collaboration, automakers gain access to the latest cutting edge technology from Mobileye that they can trust will exceed industry expectations as we have proven before, while benefiting from the customization, industrialization, testing and support capabilities brought by Valeo. Our collaboration to deliver imaging radar to automakers benefits the industry, and ultimately, drivers globally.
Mr. Marc Vrecko, President of Valeo’s Comfort and Driving Assistance Systems Business Group, said that, this partnership reinforces the strong relationship between Valeo and Mobileye. We are proud to collaborate together on Imaging radar technology, which will be essential in the future of autonomous mobility. This is a great illustration of Valeo’s technological leadership in ADAS and of its capability to produce innovative technologies at scale. This collaboration will contribute to Valeo’s commitment to offer affordable, smarter and safer mobility.
The imaging radar partnership between Mobileye and Valeo marks a substantial advancement in a new and exciting chapter of vehicle safety and performanceThey will also gain from Valeo's customisation, industrialisation, testing, and support capabilities. The industry benefits from our partnership to provide imaging radar to manufacturers, and ultimately, drivers worldwide.
The imaging radar provides a thorough, four-dimensional image of the immediate area up to and including 300 meters away. The radar allows for more precise detection of humans, cars, or impediments that other sensors would miss - even on busy urban streets - with a 140-degree field-of-view at medium range and a 170-degree field-of-view at close range.
Mobileye has already seen high market interest for its Imaging radar from the industry as automakers look to expand the operational design domains of their automated driving features.
Since 2006, Valeo, which offers Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), has been creating and manufacturing radar technology. By incorporating Mobileye's ground-breaking imaging radar technology and the accompanying software and algorithms included in the Mobileye Radar chipset into Valeo's automotive software and hardware radar solutions, the company will take the lead on system design for the new imaging radar product.
Including functional safety, cybersecurity, quick communication protocols with vehicle networks, electromagnetic robustness, and validation of overall system performance and endurance during vehicle lifetime, Valeo will adhere to the most recent and strictest software and hardware requirements from the automotive industry. The full Imaging radar solution will be produced by Valeo, leveraging its global industrial footprint and competence in creating the most recent automotive technology at scale.
